The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) is set to ignite the UK spirits scene with its highly anticipated House of U.S. Spirits activation, returning for its second and largest edition yet.
For two weeks, from 24th August – 7th September, multiple immersive events will showcase the finest spirits, offering a blend of tastings, masterclasses, and exclusive events in both London and Manchester.
TT in Shoreditch will host the first flagship event on 2nd September. Attendees can expect tastings with craft distillers, industry leaders, cocktail demos, and private sessions unveiling new product launches.
There’ll also be a special panel discussion in partnership with The Spirits Business, with editor Melita Kiely as mediator, centred on the theme ‘Pour Equality: Women in the (American) Whiskey Industry’. As well as American Whiskey, DISCUS is serious about diversity and inclusion, and the panel will bring together five women for a discussion about how to celebrate and amplify the voices of women in the American and UK Whiskey industries. Networking opportunities and American-style canapés will cap off the evening.
The second leg kicks off on 4th September at The Whiskey Jar, Manchester, one of the city’s most leading Whiskey bars. Like it’s London sister event, Manchester will feature portfolio tastings, cocktail demonstrations, the highly anticipated masterclass “American Whiskey 101” and a two weeklong cocktail in venue menu.
Across the two weeks, some of the USA’s best loved and most sought-after brands will be available to discover via activations, masterclasses, and other events. Participating brands will include Uncle Nearest, Leiper’s Fork, Virginia Distillery, Wild Turkey, Maker’s Mark, Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Westland, Angel’s Envy, Kentucky Owl Bourbon, Bayou Rum, and more.
In addition to these events, TT’s window display will feature the best liquid of U.S. spirits, available for purchase, alongside a special guest menu in the venue’s terrace and cellar bars. Five American films paired with spirit-based cocktails will also be screened throughout the week.
In the UK, things are looking up again for the American Whiskey category, with the rise of cocktail culture opening doors for American Whiskey in signature serves, as well as younger, more adventurous Whiskey drinkers seeking new Whiskies to try.
