Fragrance with a Sense of Place
Ouverture London, the British fragrance house founded by award-winning writer Aleesha Hansel, introduces its debut collection: a series of candles shaped by terroir, memory, and the quiet power of place.
Instead of listing notes, each candle evokes an atmosphere: the texture of a landscape, the emotion of a moment, the places you’ve lived, loved or longed for. Anchored in Aleesha’s background in wine, anthropology, and documentary storytelling, the collection invites people to experience scent the way we experience place – through emotion, texture, ritual and memory.
At its heart is the belief that fragrance is not simply smelled, but felt.
A New Interpretation of Terroir
The Terroir Collection draws on four French appellations, not to imitate wine, but to evoke the sensory worlds they represent. These candles explore the interplay of enviroment, culture, and memory – the elements that make a place distinct.
Each scent is crafted to feel like stepping into a landscape:
Evoking Margaux
Dark plum, cassis, aged oak, leather and birch tar: a deep, lingering warmth with the gravity of a quiet, wood-panelled room
Evoking Sancerre
Green orchard fruit, lime zest, chalk and white woods: crisp, airy, and quietly luminous.
Evoking Côtes de Provence
Pink grapefruit, sea salt, sun-bleached woods and pink pepper: bright, warm, and wind-swept.
Evoking Hermitage
Black cherry, olive, suede, garrigue herbs and amber: earthy, contemplative, and soulful.
Coming soon:
Evoking Meursault — a golden, textured fragrance of vanilla pod, hazelnut, warm cream and soft stone fruit.
Each candle burns for 45+ hours and retails at £58.
