Join Sarah Abbott MW and Diego Tomasi – acclaimed viticultural researcher and Director of the Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco – for an in-depth masterclass on the terroirs, soils, and Rive (single-vineyard) wines of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

This session offers a rare opportunity to explore the complexity and finesse of one of Italy’s most significant sparkling wine regions. From the steep slopes of the UNESCO-listed hills to the fine distinctions between the 43 officially recognised Rive, the masterclass will examine how geology, altitude, and microclimate shape the character and quality of Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

Drawing on Diego Tomasi’s award-winning research into the region’s soil zoning and vineyard classifications, and brought to life through a tasting of selected Rive wines, this session will challenge assumptions and highlight the region’s fine wine credentials.

Designed for Masters of Wine and IMW students, the masterclass will also explore how Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG is asserting its identity in the global fine wine conversation – and how the language of terroir, tradition and sustainability is evolving in sparkling wine.
