Join us for this exciting Masterclass to discover the unique flavours of Alto Adige DOC and Etna DOC wines and have the opportunity to explore and compare their signature varieties across different vintages, altitudes and slopes. In addition, Pecorino Romano PDO cheese will be sampled, offering a distinguished pairing to enhance and deepen your tasting experience.
This masterclass will be led by Nancy Gilchrist MW. Throughout the day, Eduard Bernhart, Director of the Consorzio Alto Adige DOC, will be on hand to introduce the joint campaign, his region Alto Adige and will be available for conversations following the masterclass.
Despite their geographical distance with Alto Adige being the northernmost winegrowing region in Italy and Etna being located in the southern Italian island of Sicily, the two DOC-regions have many similarities: The guarantee of high-quality production and their unique terroir. All but 2% of Alto Adige’s wine production is DOC, while Etna DOC was one of the earliest DOCs in Italy and the first in Sicily when it was founded in 1968. By the very nature of their terroir, both regions are committed to producing wines of the highest quality. While Alto Adige DOC wines are influenced by the different altitude levels in the sub-Alpine valleys, down in Sicily the island’s Mediterranean warmth is tempered by the cooling effect of altitude on Mount Etna and the many different volcanic soil types make each Etna DOC wine unique.
Join for this exciting masterclass where you will have the opportunity to explore both Alto Adige DOC wines and Etna DOC wines from different altitudes and slopes, followed tasting of Pecorino Romano PDO.
