It’s never been more important for us as wine lovers to pay attention to how our wines have been made, to understand and celebrate those winemakers who champion sustainability in their vineyards, their wineries and their business practices. At Thorman Hunt we are delighted to work exclusively with producers who have the utmost respect for their vines, but in this tasting we wanted to highlight those who have gone the extra mile in their forward-thinking attitude – using organic and/or biodynamic approaches in their winemaking, whether or not they have been certified as such.
We also wanted to shine a light on those who have done great work in sustaining ancient vines or grape varieties, whether it be Lyrarakis working to reestablish near-extinct varieties in their native Crete, or Grange Saint-Sauveur working with hundred-year-old vines and making wines under the ‘simple’ Vin de France classification to best draw out the potential of these historic plantings.
There will be many wines on show with the Thorman Hunt team on hand to talk you through some of our most exciting producers. Most of the wines present will be certified organic or biodynamic, but several will not be – simply following the tenets of these philosophies without yet being officially classified as such. We will make clear on the day which wines follow these principles, and to what extent.
Please note that due to limited space we are holding two separate sessions, so please let us know which slot you would like to attend when you RSVP.
